Below I've tried to answer several of the common question I receive about the salon and barber products I offer to my clients. How long Has Over The Top Salon Services, been in business?"

Over The Top Salon Services has been in business since June 1 2018, however this is the new incarnation of the original Over The Top which was founded in 1987.
Is there any type of warranty for the professional hair cutting and other tools being offered?

Yes, all manufacturers typically have a one year warranty on their products and will exchange or repair them if there is a defect in the original workmanship or parts. For example, Hikari Scissors, offers to sharpen their blades for only $10 (includes retrurn shipping) if there is an issue in cutting quality during the first year. If you have any issues with any of the products I offer, I stand behind the quality and will assist you with any warranty claims. The good news is, the products we offer are of such high quality, these issues are very rare.
How long can I expect professional hair cutting tools to last?

That's a very good question! The average lifespan of a scissor that costs $350 or less is 3-5 years for a relatively busy stylist (seeing 40-50 clients per week). Once you upgrade to a type of higher quality scissor that we offer, you will see that lifespan double to 7-10 years and in the case of the best quality Hikari scissor it could be 20-25 years. Of course you need to have your scissors sharpened from time to time depending on the number of hair cuts done with them and the quality of the steel they are made from. So a higher quality scissor is a much better lifetime value for your hard earned dollars.
What are the brands that you carry?

I offer what I consider the best brands of products available today. The reason is my experience as a professional hair stylist and barber taught me that great tools and technique create great hair styles. The primary brands we carry include: Hikari Scissors, Kamisori Scissors, Shisato Scissors, Yasaka Scissors, GMJ Ionic Hair Dryers, GMJ 3D Vibration Irons, JRL Professional Clippers and Trimmers, VIA San Francisco Crystal Ion Carbon Combs, and FROMM Copper Barrel, boar bristle and DIANE vented hair brushes.
How does someone verify the authenticity of your imported scissors?

That's a very good question. US Customs requires a country of origin stamp on all imported products. If you see ads for greatly discounted products with the scissor brand names we offer, then it's almost certainly a counterfeit. For example Hikari requires every distributor to sell their scissors for the same price that they do. If you buy a used scissor on line for less than a new scissor, or a counterfeit scissor you will not have any warranty nor protection from the actual manufacturers I work with. So never buy a scissor without a country of orgin stamp actaully on the scissor itself. If you do you will not be buying a good quality scissor made with good quality steel.
Some of the highest quality scissors you carry are priced much higher than what I'm used to using, do you offer financing?"

Yes, I understand that high quality professional tools can be pretty high for some salon and barber professionals. This is why I have a financing financing program, through Square, where you can make low monthly installments while you enjoy the use of the tools you are purchasing.

How good are Yasaka Scissors?

Yasaka Shears are a good quality brand of scissors that has been in the market for decades. They feature traditional handle designs and semi-convex blades. They stay sharp and hold their edge well and are lite weight. This is a good choice for the budget minded stylist who is not ready to move up to the Hikari Scissor level.
